Sewed the clamshell bag, glued sequins on one side. Once those dry I will sew the bead handle on, then sequin the reverse side. Trim glued onto straps; once they dry I can tack them to the top. I had a vicious migraine for the past 3-4 days and took a day off to whip up a bear for the bear display (photo coming soon, hoho) so haven’t even touched the costume until today.
wanna sleep so bad… gotta watch this kid party show so I can FLIP MY SHIT if this kid actually gets a tattoo even though I know the commercial is a trick and they’re just playing the sound to fuck with her while they airbrush it on.
Damn, these are gorgeous. I tried painting an eyechip once; the paint glorped all around. U dunno if you need a special type of paint or if mine was too watery or what. It seems to be a highly regarded secret!
I tried scrubbing the top, ream-ripping the lining out and washing it, and just ended up with water-stains on the front, the glue starting to run around the sequins, and a general mess. I’m hoping I can still re-use the lining because LOL I had already trimmed the seam allowances before the fiasco. Due to staining on the fabric from my dryer (thanks, grease-marks) there were enough small pieces to re-cut the bodice, but I won’t have enough for the bag/purse. And due to all this reconstruction I’m now almost out of thread and glue. Wishing me luck!
Ugh. So yesterday I got everything cut out. (pattern, pieces etc) Today I started constructing the top. NEVER SEW BEADED FABRIC OMFG what a pain in the ass. The needle jams, skips and generally pisses you off. Luckily it’s just the overlay for the uhhh “shell” part of the top. Got the outside sewn and then gave up sewing the sequins because they too kept jamming so I GLUED ON THE REMAINDER OMG. Take that, Seminar. Lining is ready, now I just need to sew the 5 pieces of boning in- I’m assuming they go into the top itself and not into the lining? I can’t tell from the pattern image and Simplicity is known for fubar-ing their instructions. Tomorrow’s goal: sew in boning, lining-to-bodice, add straps and install zipper. Also to at least get the overlay of the tail basted in place and the tail-fin completed. Totally gonna cheat and glue the sequins on that too.
Thank goodness on Mon. the creme-de-la-creme wig arrived and it’s GORGEOUS. GLW said they were making the base wig of the blends thinner and it definately is, but since my hair is short and shit anyway I may just wear that and not the falls. Still need to add “seaweed” and pearls and shit.
Kiss Me True (long silver hair, bangs) - on sale right now
Simply Peppermint (centre-part mint)
Urban Cowgirl (long side-part dark brown)
Bohemian Peace (long centre-part brown)
Sunshine Holiday (tan, light hair)
Heather Sky (tan, darker hair w/bangs) - would require more saving
I want a girl with long hair, but I also want a tan girl? Since I customize hair > everything, though usable stock pieces don’t hurt. But the others are all discounted right now, and SH and HS pretty much never are so it doesn’t matter when I buy them. HS = 2 x SH pricewise, ugh. Someone on BK had a KMT and her hair was just gorgeous, for a doll I hadn’t paid much attention to before.
